How does Cosmelan work
Cosmelan®
Depigmentation treatment’s principal action (tyrosinase inhibitor)
is to inhibit melanin productionwhich is responsible for darkening
of the skin and hyperpigmentation.
What does the treatment involve?
The Cosmelan® Depigmentation Mask
treatment is initiated at the medical office and must be maintained
at home as advised by your doctor.
After skin assessment and skin preparation
by the doctor, the Cosmelan mask is applied.. You will be able to
return home with the mask on, and the mask is washed off after 4-8
hours as advised by your doctor. Day 2 onwards,you will need to
apply Cosmelan 2 cream 2-3 times a day for the first two weeks then
once a day from then on.
When can one see the results
of Cosmelan?
In many cases, results can be seen
1-2 weeks, and continues to improve over the next few weeks. Skin
appears radiant and smoother, and hyperpigmented blemishes disappear
or are significantly improved.
Is there any downtime?
Downtime is usually mild. This may
include transient redness, mild swelling ,tightness and skin flaking,
Are they any precautions to be noted?
Do not use AHA based products (eg
glycolic acid) for at least a week before treatment.
